A short description about your blog

Microsoft has just released it's trailer for Office 2010.

Looking like something that would be directed by John Woo and starring Tom Cruise the trailer is quite impressive. It mixes Hollywood style action shots and suspense with an underlying satire that's not common from the microsoft camp.

So heres a question we here all the time

what is Twitter??

Twitter is a free Social Networking and micro blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets.

Tweets are text basedposts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, SMS (text messages) or external applications. The service is free to use over the Internet.

So to put this in easy to understand terms Twitter is a way to tell people exactly what you are doing every second of the day. Some call it voyeuristic some call it a breakthrough call it what you will it's ridiculously popular and shows no signs of going away any time soon.

give it a try

Google meets Ben Stein

Wolfram Alpha is not really a search engine, its more than that its actually a computational Knowledge engine. For those of us who dont know what that is it basically means that its google if you gave google several doctorates in advanced astrophysics. Wolfram is designed to answer your questions and uses several advanced methods to break down your questions and provide you with a ton of statistical responses. Still dont get it?

Here's an example:

If you typed in your date of birth as

DOB 12/1/83

then you would get the following answer:

Assuming "dob" is referring to age
born on Thursday, December 1, 1983
Current age:
25 years 5 months 26 days
Unit conversions:
9303 days
223 274 hours
2.549 decades
8.038x10^8 seconds
25.46978 anomalistic years
25.4700104954 sidereal years
Comparison as time:
~~ 1.3 x turnover time of terrestrial organic plant matter (~~ 19 calendar years )

Typing in : life expectancy

would give you the statistics on life expectancy by country for the world with maps, stats and all.

There Goal as stated on the website is to "long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone."

The potential uses for wolfram are almost limitless and it can be great for help doing research or homework  so go ahead give it a try and see what you get.

Organize Your Finances for free

Posted by: admin in Web Sites on

Mint.com is what is a great free replacement to Quicken or Mircrosoft Money.  It can link up your Bank, Credit Card, Investment, and Mortgage accounts.  It has a nifty Web 2.0 design and an easy to use interface.  The only thing is some people might not like having all their bank usernames  and passwords saved online.  Give it a rip and start tracking your expenses.

Sick and tired of having a dedicated device for everything.  An iPod for music, a phone for communcation, a recorder for dictation, and so on so on.... VR+ helps you reduce your army of gadgets by one.

These technology installs on your blackberry and allows you to save, email, and organize your verbal notes.   Once done with the recording its a snap to send your thoughts to someone or keep them on file for later use.  I currently use this technology as I am driving in between clients so I can capture my thoughts.

The application is $35 but is well worth it if you find yourself forgetting things after meetings or site visits.  Also you can subscribe to voice to text service.  This will allow you to send your recording out to and get back a message typed out in a Word format.  The technology that converts it text is 50/50 some people it works great others it doesn't understand your version of english.  I would recommend testing before signing up for a plan.
